Guadalupe River Park offers 2.6 miles of hiking trails and a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Other areas include the Heritage Rose Garden, which contains more than 3,700 roses, and the Courtyard Garden, which showcases drought-resistant plants and landscaping techniques. The park even features the world’s largest Monopoly board, which visitors can play using rental tokens.
Rosicrucian Park
Rosicrucian Park is the headquarters of the Ancient Mystic Order Rosae Crucis. It is located in San Jose, California. The Rosicrucian Order was founded around a thousand years ago. There are thousands of members of the Order worldwide. It is not easy to find them, however, because this is not a tourist attraction. So, it’s worth taking the time to go there and explore what it has to offer.
The park contains many unique attractions, including the world-famous Egyptian Museum, a new labyrinth, the Alchemy Exhibit, a Peace Garden, and a Planetarium. The Rosicrucian Order maintains the park and operates the Museum. The museum is free to visit, but donations are appreciated. There’s also a Rosicrucian Order bookstore in the park.

There are exhibitions, tours, lectures, and other events to choose from. The park is a great place to spend the day in Silicon Valley. If you’re looking for something a bit more mellow, Rosicrucian Park is the place for you.
If you’re traveling to San Jose, consider visiting the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. This museum has a large grounds and is located in downtown San Jose. It’s close to the Rosicrucian headquarters and is open Wednesday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on weekends from 10 am to 6 p.m. Children under five years old are admitted free. You can also visit the Museum for free.
Hester Park
If you live in San Jose, California, you’ll definitely want to take a stroll through Hester Park. This small green space is adjacent to the Rose Garden Branch Library, and is perfect for small kids. It features 2 kids’ playgrounds with swings and climbing structures. It also has ample shade from trees and is available for day-use picnicking. You can play soccer here, but you should plan ahead as there are no restrooms at Hester Park.
In addition to its children’s playground, this park also offers barbecues and picnic areas. There’s even a walking trail that climbs the hill behind the playground area. The trail ends at a scenic plateau, making it a great place for a family picnic. This San Jose park is also located near the Rosicrucian Museum and library. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere without feeling crowded.
Visitors to Hester Park can also try their luck at fishing. Catfish are stocked in ponds throughout the park for fishing. Anglers can catch up to six catfish per day. However, be sure to follow the NC fishing rules and buy a license before you get started. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission offers information about licenses and other regulations. Visitors are also asked not to feed the waterfowl.
Vasona Lake County Park
If you’re looking for a place to spend your next day in the sun, consider visiting Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos, California. A part of the Santa Clara County Parks system, the park is surrounded by the Vasona Reservoir. At the park, you can ride the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad, a ridable miniature railway. You can also take a ride on the W.E. “Bill” Mason Carousel at Oak Meadow Park.
There are several ways to spend time at Vasona Lake County Park, including picnicking. The park features family picnic tables for picnicking. Families are required to have a responsible adult present to use the tables. The park also has limited parking, with stalls available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Reserved parking is not available for group activities. Alternatively, you can reserve a picnic table for up to 10 people.

The hiking trail begins at Noble Avenue and continues to the Water District gate on the upstream side of the creek levee. The trail is not yet completed, but is currently under construction and will be finished by the end of 2010. The park will also have additional trails, including a Reach 1 segment and Alum Rock Park. From Interstate 680, take the Berryessa Road exit. Continue straight for 1.2 miles to Penitencia Creek Road. Turn right onto Penitencia Creek Road and follow the signs. You will find the park on the northwest corner of Jackson and Mabury. Penitencia Creek Park is located along the creek and is ideal for a picnic or a walk. The park has picnic areas, and you’ll want to bring your camera to capture some great shots of nature.
Happy Hollow Park

During the pandemic, the city parks department supported Happy Hollow Zoo with donations and programs to ensure it’s continued operation. The zoo has also added two new lemurs to its collection. Vintana, a seven-year-old female, and Nify, a 19-year-old male, were introduced on April 16. They have had four offspring since they first met. They will now get to name their pups as well.
Emma Prusch Farm Park
Located in East San Jose, California, Emma Prusch Farm Park is a 43.5-acre public park that was donated to the city in 1962. The park aims to represent the area’s agricultural past through a variety of projects, including a 4-H barn, a community garden, a rare-fruit orchard, and demonstration gardens. There are also picnic areas and large lawns for recreation.
In addition to the orchard, Emma Prusch Farm has a plant science center, two community gardens, butterfly and pollinator gardens, and an open field with picnic tables and plenty of parking. While we did not stay long, it was still a fun place to spend a weekend afternoon. The park is open until 8pm on Friday nights, so if you’re looking for a late-night activity, Emma Prusch Farm is the perfect destination!
