UPSTAIRS
There are three rooms, one bath,
a kitchenette, and a conservatory on this floor.
The
Conservatory
The theme of this room is India Raj with terra cotta glazed
walls,
olive trim, and rich reds, oranges, browns, and greens. As you
can see, we
have glazed the walls with an old world feel to it. We have yet
to
paint the ceiling (will do once we have new sheetrock up). |

Moroccan
Room
This room sports a Moroccan theme. Although we have all the
furniture in there, the room has yet to be painted and tiled
in the traditional
style. The sleeping alcove will be tiled and painted with traditional
Moroccan symbols such as ochre stars against a midnight blue
sky. The
sitting area (with a round brass platter table and floor pillows
sits upon
tribal rugs) will eventually be draped (like being in a tent).
This is
our most popular guest room. |

Adirondak
room.
This room is themed to honor the family camp located on one
of the
largest lakes in Upstate NY. A combination of Grandma's antique
bedroom set
and handmade Birch bark furniture that was handmade by Diana's
dad give
the room a upscale cabin feel. The room will be painted a warm
brown
with forest green and burgundy accents. |

Upstairs
Kitchenette
There is what used to be a little Kitchenette upstairs. Although
there
is no stove or refrigerator anymore, we have outfitted it with
simple
amenities (snacks, tea, coffee maker, microwave, etc.) for guest
use and
have yet to getting around to making it "pretty." |

Home office
(Cloud room)
This is our home office (and serves as a sixth guest room in a
pinch).
It's got the best view in the house; with downtown's skyline to
the
left, the Santa Cruz mountains in front and to the right—beautiful
old
palms and the historic district. Since this room affords such a
terrific
view, we plan to give it a tasteful "Playa & Cloud" theme
by painting a
fresco on the sloped ceiling. |

Upstairs
bathroom
We're planning a Tibetan Cloud theme for this little bathroom.
We
repaired two very damaged walls, replaced a leaky pane of glass
with a real
working skylight, laid a new sub-floor, laid new tiles, and put
up
fresh sheetrock (thanks Frank!). We are now finally able to paint
and
appoint this cozy guest bathroom. |
